Product Description
Detailed Specifications & Features

These four materials all fall into the category of super austenitic stainless steels, designed to withstand extreme corrosive environments where even 316L is inadequate. In simple terms: N08904 is the "veteran champion in acid resistance", S31254 is the "benchmark of six-molybdenum grade", N08926 is the "upgraded and enhanced version", and N08367 is the "nuclear-grade powerhouse". Their core differences lie in their Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) and applicable media, with detailed comparisons as follows: 🧪 Comparison of Core Properties and Applications · N08904 (904L, veteran acid-resistant steel): Alloyed with copper (Cu), it exhibits outstanding performance in reducing acids such as dilute sulfuric acid and phosphoric acid, with pitting corrosion resistance far superior to 316L. Commonly used in sulfuric acid storage tanks and heat exchangers, but not resistant to hydrochloric acid; recommended service temperature is below 450℃.· S31254 (254SMO, six-molybdenum benchmark): Contains high molybdenum (6%) and nitrogen, with a PREN ≥ 43, specially engineered for high-concentration chloride ion environments (seawater) and excellent crevice corrosion resistance. Applied in seawater desalination and flue gas desulfurization systems; its hydrochloric acid resistance is better than 904L but inferior to higher-grade alloys.· N08926 (Incoloy 926, enhanced version): Further improved pitting and crevice corrosion resistance with higher nitrogen content, and mechanical properties superior to 904L. Suitable for more demanding environments such as acidic oil and gas wells containing H₂S and marine engineering.· N08367 (AL-6XN, nuclear-grade): Boasts 50% higher strength than ordinary stainless steel, is nearly immune to stress corrosion cracking in chloride-containing environments, and costs less than nickel-based alloys of equivalent performance. Primarily used in extreme scenarios including nuclear power equipment and offshore oil and gas platforms. 💡 How to Choose Quickly? · For dilute sulfuric acid/phosphoric acid service with a limited budget → N08904, the cost-effective choice.· For conventional seawater cooling or flue gas desulfurization → S31254, a mature and widely applied benchmark.· For acidic oil and gas fields containing H₂S or higher corrosion resistance requirements → N08926, the upgraded option.· For applications demanding extremely high safety and strength such as nuclear power and offshore platforms → N08367, the performance leader. ⚠️ Special Note: These four are all "high-end materials", priced significantly higher than 316L and difficult to machine (especially S31254 and N08367). They are typically only employed when 316L is completely unsuitable.
